Very saddened to see where a vehicle has driven over Freshes creek and then along the coastline here in North Norfolk where there are nesting waders.

A peaceful day amongst the old trees, with carpets of Bluebells laid out in front of us, and so much to take in… David said can I do this justice, and sometimes you can’t, for its best to just sit and take it all in with your eyes, then the smells and sounds of the wood. So often the best way to enjoy a Safari, the experience of the moment…

Close Encounter’s…. Being with Hares, as they lay

Close Encounter’s…. Being with Hares, as they lay asleep in their forms watching them at peace, there’s nothing like it. Words are hard to explain feelings of the connection, for you are drawn into their world, and I know Jane and Graham felt it to.
Early that morning we had a male and female Yellowhammer, two meters away, working along the Hawthorne hedge right next to us, catching flies as we watched in wonder. It was good to see a pair of Grey Partridges with the male standing guard keeping an eye out, while his partner fed.
An unforgettable day with so many Hares and so much more…

A wild spring day on the upper reaches of the Rive

A wild spring day on the upper reaches of the River Wensum with Jane and Stephen, sitting watching a Barn Owl hunt over the water meadow before flying off to a derelict farm building with its vole. Swallows flying low over the grass field hunting for insect life, and just missing the the young Roe buck, while Small Whites and Orange Tips glide pass on the wind. The Cuckoo so close calling out, as Lapwings mate in front of us, Marsh Harriers eagerly gather nesting material, Little Grebe on the still water dives down after Sticklebacks.
Then a Common Tern joins us, all the way back up from Africa, the circle of life with nature continues, you just need to stop the clock to enjoy it….

There’s nothing like sitting with your back agains

There’s nothing like sitting with your back against a tree in a private 200 acre Blue Bell wood, and being the only people there, the smells, the sights and the sound of wildlife, all your senses are aware of the space in the moment of time, so make time to immerse your soul in nature.
Come and take a walk on the wild side….

A wonderful Safari with Caron and Julie, so many Hares to sit with and watch their habits and antics. A mix bag of English weather, but it did not stop the Brimstone Butterflies flying by, nor a Montagu Harrier which was a first for the year….

Happy Easter to all….

So after 50 days the Otters are now using the man

So after 50 days the Otters are now using the man made Otter holt that I built with the help of my friend Phil. It has been such an exciting and worth while project, it is just another sanctuary along the chalk River Stiffkey here in North Norfolk at the bottom of the garden.
We will keep putting posts out on our story with what is happening at the holt.
We are now onto the next project here at Ticketyboo, Bats….

Yesterdays Safari in the rain with keen wildlife photographer Sharon, the downpours did not deter the wildlife from putting on a show, nor the sounds of the Lapwing dancing in the grey sky’s overhead. Lots of Hares boxing and chasing across the wet crops, many a time I do not take photos, but just watch and stare in amazement of the speed and agility of these fascinating animals. Sharon had several Hares running up to her, with the wind in the right direction. It was surprising to find a very large flock of Pink Feet Geese still up near the coast, Brent Geese sill in good numbers, I could listen to them all day….

Road Block…. Amazing what you see on an adventure.
A lot of good Hare action on Wednesday, must of seen over forty Hares, with some close up and personal. Male Marsh Harrier glided straight towards us eye height only meters away, a memory etched in for a lifetime.
On the marsh two newly arrived Spoonbills feeding amongst fifty or so Brent Geese, a picture within a picture.
So good to hear Yellow Hammers singing out from the top of the hedge line, while below a male Grey Partridge struts it’s stuff, while keeping an eye on its partner feeding, and then a Red Kite flys past carrying a stick for its nest building, and so it all starts again….

Early start this morning out on the marsh with @zoenextthesea , watching Barn Owls glide by as Brent Geese flew above as we canoed the channels out to the Marsh Boat. Lots of Teal, and Curlew calling out as the day break gave way to the sound of the paddles cutting into the morning tide. It was nice to see our first Spoonbill overhead heading east around the coast. Turnstones searching the shore line running in between the Redshanks as the Oystercatchers looked on. And all before the ran and snow…

What a Safari for Martyn and Sally, as we ended with a gathering of eleven Hares, then a twelfth joined in and it was just a case of when, after a few minutes it all kicked off.
I have never witnessed so many Hares in one group, it was truly amazing to see.

Yesterdays Safari on a chilly blue-sky day, was the last Wild Goose Chase of the season, as with this full moon some of the Pink Feet Geese have started their journey north back to Iceland. The Brent will be with us for a while longer, we had good sightings of both. Along with lots of waders, Teal, Widgeon, Roe Deer, Chinese Water Deer and a male Sparrowhawk flying low in front of us, carrying a male Blackbird. Still good numbers of Fieldfares, Hares boxing and chasing, Marsh Harriers, a male Kestrel sunning itself. Then one of my favourite birds, Little Grebes…

Wednesday’s Wild Goose Chase Safari in the mist, with Louis and Paul. Nothing dampened our spirits as the day kept giving, great start with watching a Barn Owl hunting at close quarters. Chinese water deer, Muntjac and a small herd of doe Red Deer’s, the sublime of a Reeves pheasant. Sitting with hundreds of Pink Feet Geese feeding, lots of female Kestrels, Curlew feeding right in front of us, Teal taking shelter from the wind, Widgeon calling out, Stonechats balancing on the top of stems. Picnic on board the Marsh Boat with Brent Geese flying over head. On leaving we where in ore of thousands of Pink Feet landing on a sand bar next to Blakeney point, what a spectacular show to end the day….
